Smaller field, threat of rain, end of season and Henleyville is far from the Bay Area. Decided I would cover all moves by Chico Corsa because they had the numbers. One of their guys went off the front 10 miles in and I covered. I figured it was too early, but I went anyways. My teammate wasn't gonna chase nor was Chico so we got a sizable gap. With about 40-45 miles to go he cracked and I was left to solo. I didn't think I was gonna be able to hold for 40+miles solo but I was invested so I kept going. I kept my wattage around 250-280 watts (I usually set my garmin to show watts and distance only) and I tried to block out the pain and negative thoughts. I think the mental part was as hard as the physical part. I was still making 280 watts in the final kms. There is no way I could have done that without the power meter to pace my effort

I had built a decent advantage so I was able to enjoy the final km. I zipped up my jersey, straightened it, put my glasses in the helmet vents, wiped the cytomax of my face, etc.

It was my first win ever and even though there are a few races left, I'm ending my season with a win.
