My first bike was a cross bike, used for crushed gravel and limestone trails. I put specialized burroughs 32 armadillo tires on it. They work great on pavement or gravel. Very satisfied. I also have a road bike for good pavement riding. I think it is an essential stable to have when you have good trails and good roads in your area. You pick the steed best suited for the day's route.
