But for the health of this forum or at least for the interest level your definition may be necessary. It would be much harder to swell the numbers of car free people if those people had to actually be free from the use of cars. Doesn't hurt the car light numbers at all.
Well, AA and NA would certainly define drugfree as any day (or even a shorter peiod) that an addict went without using his drug. They give new members a medal to celebrate 24 hours of sobriety, in fact. Similarly, I think anybody who is dependent on their car should feel proud if they manage to go 24 hours without driving. I'm not sure many Americans could claim to go a whole day without driving, unless they were sick in bed that whole time.

I agree with you that the description of this forum is poor. I once wrote a new one that had a lot of support, but I'm afraid I got lazy and never went to the trouble of asking the admins to change the description on the index page.

I don't remember my entire blurb, but I know it said something like, "Do you rely on your bike for everyday transportation? Do you try to drive less or not at all--for exercise, to help the environment, to save money, or just for fun?"
