My personal experience is that the Mich Pro3s don't hold up that well on the roads of Long Island either. I loved the way they rode, but after less than 200 miles, my rear tire had multiple places like the one the OP pictured.

In hindsight, I probably should have expected it...I'm a clyde, and the tire is a race tire. I think in cycling we're just so accustomed to being able to ride "what the pros ride", and maybe sometimes forget that some pro teams view equipment like tires as short-term, expendable components.
