That motion doesn't jerk the crank too?
I'm hoping this is the stuff that the engineers take into account, but I don't necessarily see why a spindle-based system would need to be less robust than a crank-based one.
I'd worry more cost-wise, as measuring in individual pedals would seemingly require 2x the force-measuring hardware than just monitoring 1 place.
