I think I toasted my L2D Q5

Batteries went in backwards (don't ask ). It is only emitting a very dim light now. I have had it for a number of years and I don't recall that it has the reverse polarity protection built in.

Any way to fix this chunk of aluminum now? I have never played around with DIYing flashlights. If not fixable, what should I replace it with that is comparable. I have a TerraLUX 220 as my backup and it has always seemed a touch brigher (probably just the more concentrated hotspot) than the Fenix was, but it is a little chunkier - not quite as smooth and svelt as the Fenix.
