Oh baby, what a morning. I got the bike out, put all my bags on and loaded them up, I stood over the bike in the driveway and looked up to see the clearest morning sky I've seen in weeks. It was a little on the cool side but I had a light jacket on and long fingered gloves. I rolled out of the drivway on my 70 pounds of bicycle and the junk that I usually carry around in case I need it, although I never do. That was the start of one of the best commutes I've had this year, I took the long way into work through the countryside, I rolled along at a comfortable pace of an average speed of 16 miles an hour, I pushed a slight head wind all the way. Traffic was extremely light and some how I managed to miss just about every bump in the road. The total mileage for the ride in was 27 miles of rolling hills, It was dark the entire way and I had my headlight on the 12 watt mode, which isn't too bright. It was like I was alone in the world, no one to tell me where to go or what to do. I could hear the beautiful sound of the rubber on the pavement and the slight click as I changed gears to climb. My commute this morning is truely what it's all about, it's why I do it, and why I'll coninue to do it.
