Sure beats mowing, I guess. I grew up "tending" an acre of what seemed child forced-labor garden.
Nothing recreational about it, purely economic necessity. 6 kids, no money.
Everything home-grown. Our own meat, local milk, butter, eggs.
Believe me, it sounds a lot cooler than it was.
I do not wax nostalgic. An acre is a big (Peugeot) garden.
