I used to get a little nervous riding after dark, but I've gotten over that. The most dangerous IMO is when I ride solo, after dark, during the winter. It's marvelous being out in the silent white darkness all alone but if I were to crash and become immobilized then hypothermia could set in really quick.

Completely agree on this point. Those are the rides I take it easy, and have extra stuff to wear in the pack. Even walking out would be much, much colder. Most places I ride, you can get cell reception. There are a few spots around me though that you'd still have a hard time getting rescuers to you if needed. Ride smart is all.
