Exactly. You may never ever need it. But if you do the chances are that you could be separated from your bike, from your helmet, from your shoes, from your jersey, or all of the above. If you're alert enough to point out where that ID/contact info is, you can probably call your next-of-kin yourself.

First responders are trained to look for MedicAlert type bracelets or necklaces, or are likely to happen on them doing their "check for breathing, heart-beat, and bleeding" thing.

They're not going to waste time going through your pockets, Bento bag, saddle bag or closely examining your bike for stickers or special add-ons.
