Why can't you help another cyclist with CO2? Is there some force in the universe that makes them work on your tires only??? I always carry two cartidges (they're small). If I end up using them both and I still need more air (which so far has never happened). I can always wait a few minutes and flag down another cyclist and ask to borrow their pump or cartridge. If I'm riding in such a remote place that there will be no other riders coming along, I'll bring a small hand pump to supplement the CO2, not vice-versa.
