um, no. if he at least drinks it, then he would have tasted a good bottle of wine and had the experience. or he could ask some friends or go to a wine store and ask around to get pairing ideas. it could open up a new appreciation for him. or he could re-gift it.
i agree, cooking with wine can yield great results, but it would be a waste of a £50 bottle.
