Go to a sign shop get some vinyl in whatever color you like and wrap the parts you what to cover and go beyond the final edges you want. Then use an x-acto to cut out the shape your desire while the vinyl is on the unit. Don't push through with the blade hard as you don't want to gouge the surface.
