I have the Schwalbe land cruiser hs 307 on my hybrid right now in 35. I ran into a road that had fresh graveling (1inch thick with just light oil under) and they did fine. I'd recommend them for a path/pavement tire. They are relatively cheap and if you go over the 65 psi to 80 psi they are pretty quick on the road too.

I just ordered some continental sport contact 700x28 and Michelin city 700x32's to try too. If you send me a pm in another week or two I can let you know how the first ones I put on do for road use.
