unless you really need maps, the 500 is about the best bike computer you can buy
i dont use maps, i know my routes and have googlemaps on my phone in a pinch, so the 500 is everything i could ask for.
i have a feeling we'll probably see a touchscreen version ala the 800 by interbike next year, but short of that, the 500 is a solid basic package and it allows a bit of growth via compatibility with HRMs, cadence sensors and ANT+ power...
