Today was our local metric century/half century ride. Started in the fog but turned gorgeous with temperatures in the mid-60's and no wind (except for the headwind from miles 15-25 and then it died down). I had to take some photos of the vintage steel I saw. I rode my PX-10 below. Covered the 62.67 miles in 3 hrs 13 min and averaged 19.5 mph. Felt pretty good about this and the time is comparable to that on my Gitane Tour de France last year. Some moderate climbing - mostly rollers with the longest hill being about 1.5 miles long. The only bugger is the short one 8 miles from the finish that peaks at 15% or so. That one always hurts.
My dad was on his Vitus 979 disguised as a mid-80's Peugeot PSV10 - unfortunately I forgot to take photos of that one.
Other bikes included this 1982 Bianchi ridden by the original owner - Columbus tubing, Campy components, Modolo brakes, not sure on the crankset. That one's my size too!
Another Bianchi - possibly from the late-80's (not sure though).
And then there was this one that got all kinds of attention - 1986 Univega Nuovo Sport mixte. Original owner who was ecstatic that she made it up all the hills without getting off the bike. She was confused why everyone was commenting on her bike.
Overall, it was a great day!
