I have a 80's fuji del ray that I converted, kept the crank set (sugino RT) swapped the chain ring (stock 52 tooth for origin8 48 tooth) and with a 16 cog on the rear I've been very happy. Find out the size of your chain ring spider thing on your current crank, Id be surprised if it wouldn't fit a replacement chain ring.
