on a group mtn ride this weekend a guy i've riden with for couple years fell from bridge about 6 feet up going from rock to rock and was knocked out and I think broken "something" in shoulder. The group is a collection of 10 guys that have ridden together 50+ times but none of us really knows each other just first names and emails mostly. we called ambulance but we couldn't call anyone for him because he had no ID on him, he had a cellphone which was locked. we all felt awful and wished we could have called his family and let them know what was happening. we all talked about it afterwards - we can tell you everything about each others riding ability and what bikes, upgrades, tires etc eachother has but don't even know what town everyone lives in. Same thing with my road riding group......
