Pro. I am a bike mechanic at a local bike shop. But, the basement shop started a number of years before getting a job in a shop. I started out slow buying tools when I need them, and then got a big boost with buying a lot of tools when another bike shop went under. The last few years though the new tools and parts came with my employee discount, and often paid by the bike flipping I do on the side.
