I use a bottle of pee and sprinkle that around my campsite.
Lived in AZ and I never had any problems even with out pee.
One reason for this is I don't ever eat at my sleeping spot.
I walk down the road and then open up the package or I cycle to someplace to eat.
Remember you loose 3 degrees f for every 1,000 feet you climb.
The desert swings 20 degrees for night and day. This is pretty much default, but I seen swings of 30 f.
Check for construction zones and operations times. Alternative routes are rare.

EB I-40 is reduced to a single lane and crosses over the median and utilizes the WB lanes over Babbitt Tank Wash Bridge while the EB bridge is replaced. Speed reduced to 35mph. Daytime Buss Ph: 928-853-5484
Your going to be using I40 more research would be needed for hopefully an Alternative route.
