Brakes are fairly easy to fix. If you can't do it, take it to a shop. While there, get them to do a tune-up.

300 euros!! The bicycle is 10 years old!! If a similar, but new, model is going for 800 euros, you'll be lucky to get 80 euros for the one you've got. Especially if it is in bad shape and you don't bother to have it fixed up.
