Andy. What I think, the auto caused most of our social problems. It is part of the American psyche.. Ruin, abandon, and run.. Whether it was tobacco plantation owner fleeing the ruined soil of the Tidewater or building cities away from the undesireable central cities and escaping the mess we have made. \
Without freeways, this would not have happened. We would have built up our cities as monuments to our historyand & culture the way the French, British, Germans, or Japanese have their citiies.. They do not think investing in the cities to be a waste of taxpayers money.. You make them the national showpiece. Our national capital is a disgrace, once you get away from the mall. The city would do credit to a country like El Salvador..
Some people don't care about cities. They are for the scum...I don't think like that..... I say the auto culture did this to us.. Ruin and run.. ! Maybe we do not care to think deeply and think how we made this mess. I think not just reacting to situations, but trying to figure out how we got here is the only way to make for a better future for our kids.
Andy. you say water to be a future problem. yes, you are right. Sounds like what the oil dependence has done to us.. As Bill Maher said, before he got censored- our fuel dollars drive the radical religious terrorists that brought on 9-11. Does it not seem, the West insatiable development projects without water planning will definitiely bring on some future crisis.. ?
