That Said, It's time to take this thread back to the gutter where it belongs!



This is what I use as my daily commuter/ knock about town/whatever bike. It's a mid 80's (?) Raleigh Monger frame I got from the dump, hopped up with a bunch of early mid 90's LX components from a rockhopper that was also from the dump. The outer chainring Is a 52 tooth sugino with a guard, which I almost never use. It does a good job of keeping the grease off my pants though. The wheels are mismatched low end alloy, still a big step up from the steel beasts that were on this thing when I got it. I run a rat trap on it with a zap strap on the stay to hook a single pannier to and an old inner tube for securing larger loads to the top. I've been meaning to get a larger basket to put on the front.

In an ideal world I might like something a little nicer but very similar to this, but it spends most of its life locked up on a downtown street, so I make do and don't worry about it getting stolen... well, I don't worry too much at least.
