Thankfully, I am not a professional cyclist. Nor do I ever get to ride on a closed course. Yet somehow, rubbing elbows with amateurs driving Explorers, Navigators, and Hum-Vees (also professionals like taxi and bus drivers), running red lights and stop signs by the tens of thousands every year (I figured 16,000 on average), and doing this daily for 35 years, I have never crashed so hard that I broke a bone or a bike. Not even a wheel. Bent a derailleur hanger once on some wet train tracks. Scuffed some bar tape and pedals here and there too.
So tell me....what am I doing wrong?
