Tom, if you don't mind my asking, are you on any other diabetes medications? The reason I am asking is my doctor just prescribed Januvia for me. My A1C is 6.6 (last week), though it was likely much higher before I stopped drinking Coke and started riding my bike in June. I haven't had a follow-up with my doctor since the test results came in (scheduled in a few weeks), but when we first started to discuss diabetes I got the impression that the disease was like a one-way valve. Once you are at the point you need medication, you will always need medication. That is why I am interested in your experience (and any others). I still need to lose about 50 pounds (currently at 235) and am planning on at least trying to come off the medication when I get to my "healthy" weight.
