Knogs are great for being seen on already-lit city streets.
Obviously if you're gonna be riding on dark roads/trails... you need something bigger.
They work fine for city riding if your concerned is following laws requiring bikes on your light. If you actually want motorists to see you from far enough off to compensate without a knee-jerk reaction they are grossly inadequate.
