I doubt it's chain stretch, unless you've already put thousands of miles on the bike.
They might. I've read worse stories of BikesDirect issues on this forum. Adjust the position of the FD until it's just about touching the largest chainring. The curves should line up like this:
It should be fairly obvious if your FD doesn't match your largest chainring.
