Drama exhausts me. One reason I married my wife is the severe lack of drama in our lives.
Do what you want. If she doesn't like it, then she doesn't like it. But you shouldn't change you to get someone. It's the whole "demo" versus "full version" thing.

Since she likes talking on the phone, great. And if you have the urge to ask her out, do it. It's okay to be interested in someone, especially if she's interested back in you. Heck, if she's close, tell her you'd rather talk over coffee or something. In a public place, not in your bedroom.
