That made me laugh. There's a good chance we (my wife, our baby who is due in April, plus our greyhound and our cat) will be moving to Houston in June or July. I'm more worried about learning to deal with the heat in the summer than dealing with the cold here in the winter. It's easy to add more layers, but common decency requires that I only take off so many.

South Texas heat can be tough. I grew up in both Houston and the Texas countryside a little north of there. It's hot, especially July, August & early Sept, but the winters are fabulous for outdoor exercise. I'd assume the temp change to the 100+ temps would be somewhat like my experience living in the Marianas Islands for a couple of years. The first two months are obscenely hot, especially with little to no power thanks to typhoons, and then ya just get used to it. Drink obscene amounts of water and it helps, up here in Ohio I don't have to hydrate like Texas or the islands.
