If you could lower it 1 1/2" then either it was a lot too high, or it's too low now. Im usually quite unsensitive to things like that, but 1 1 /2" would be a whopping big difference. My comfort span is probably +/- 1/4".
I suggest you read up on saddle height adjustment and see where you're at.

Some is rider adaptation, some is to achieve a certain goal. However, it is definitely
not intended to be used to adjust the reach to the bar. Anatomically speaking it changes the position of the hip joint WRT the bottom bracket. Assuming that you follow up with the corresponding change to the position of the bar sliding the saddle back will mean the ability to carry less weight on the arms and sliding it forward will put more weight on the arms. More forward also man that you can drop the bar lower (=more aero) w/o having your midriff hopelessly compressed.
