These would have to be either very very old frames - as the spacing has been pretty close to standardized for as long as I have been invilved with the bike biz, and even 20 years ago I can't recall seeing bikes with wildly different stud placement - or could be a bike witha different style of brake or size of wheel installed then was intended when the bike was first built.
