Highly recommended. I also ride a surly cross check. Would recommend staying away from suspension. To high maintenance. Cross or lht can handle a pan American, but the Fargo was built for it. More specifically it was built for the 2700 mile great divide. Cross check climbs better but the Fargo is more comfortable over longer distances.

Also highly recommend getting frame bags.
