The threaded boss could also be for an air bottle basement, which is meant to hold CO2 cartridges for fast tire refills. Miyata put that on a few of their bikes in the late 80's. Its a single threaded boss, looks exactly like a water bottle boss except there's only one.
That is just what I have here. A single threaded boss about 4-5 in. below where the shifters belong.
I think for now I'll just put a greased screw in it to keep the crud from the front wheel out.
Well I just got this baby fit to ride!!!
Took it for a short spin and am VERY impressed with the ride. Similar to my old Super Course in some ways but there is something different about the overall feel and it is obviously lighter. It will take a real ride for me to nail it down.
