I reckon you're getting neck pain because you have too much thoracic curvature in your spine. This means that you have to bend excessively at the neck to see forward when you are on the bike. I have this special "thoracic chair". When you sit in it you extend your thoracic spine. Progressively you can improve your flexibility.
