Most of my road riding consists of 2-3x a week of commuting ~ 10-12mi total a day. Since most of our groups rides in the area are on hiatus until next spring I don't get my typical Mon 25m+ ride.
Then on the weekends I usually go out for a 25-35mi ride. As far as terrain is concerned the commute is 80% uphill 2-5% incline obviously on the way home it's mainly downhill. I typically try to get in 1500-3000ft of climbing on longer rides.

Now with the trainer even on days when I commute I'll put in 35-40mins of additional riding. I have limited riding time with a full-time job, wife and 2 kids. I'd love to be doing 400mi/month so I picked up the trainer to aid in my time deficiency. Not that it's real road miles but at least it's some cardio and muscle work. I'm contemplating cross training with some running over then winter as it's a little safer to get out at 8-9pm at night and do an 1-2hr run.
