Is this an Argos?
The original owner, a former criterium racer from northern California, told me he purchased the bike sometime in the mid-70s and equipped it with Campagnolo Nuovo Record. The bike bears no identifying marks other than a pantographed capital "A" on the fork crowns and the playing card symbols on the inside of the fork lugs. The craftsmanship appears to be very good quality but the paint does not. I suspect the blue metallic paint may have been done later, but it's hard to tell, and the former owner doesn't recall getting it repainted. He called it an Argos and said he's sure it was built in northern California but I've read, in this forum I believe, that Argos is British. There is a serial number stamped on the drive side rear dropout, 7715. There are no decals. I haven't been able to remove the headset so I don't know if there is a stamp on the steerer. The dropouts are Campagnolo. Seat post is 27.2
Can anyone shed some light on this?
