Seriously, though -- as practical as these seem, I just can't imagine wearing them off the bike. Maybe I just need to touch base with my metro-sexual side, or something.

Back in Europe, I used to wear these type of pants all the time when hiking, but once I moved to the States I never saw pants like that. My (American) wife is ready to divorce me if I show up in them - 'boy capris' she calls them.
Especially in combination with longer socks, they seem perfect for the colder season. I don't have the right attidude, it seems ("the who-gives-a-&%$#-attidude"), like this
guy.
