Exactly. I still remember the gloom and doom talks about what would happen if oil reached $40/bbl, or (heavens forbid) $50/bbl! We seemed to have rolled through that one just fine. As for peak oil, I think it'll finally encourage us to look earnestly for alternative sources of energy. Something we've needed to do for a long time, but didn't because cheap oil existed.
