All these places are so far away! For me, I need to factor the convenience of travel into the analysis. I really don't like driving or flying. My last few vacations to Santa Barbara have been totally repeat worthy. Great rides, lots of climbing, little traffic, good friends, great food, clean hotel, English spoken, and I can get be there in just a few hours. That's really hard to beat.
And not only that, you can
take your bike on the TRAIN to get there, which is just about the coolest thing since cucumber-scented chamois creme.
I've taken my bike up to LA & to downtown SD, but I still haven't been able to wrangle a long-weekend for an SB trip.
