Bikes: Checkpoint ALR 5, Fuel EX 9.8 GX AXS, FX 4

Date of Ride: Oct 17
Type of Ride: Organized
Name of organized ride or route: Riverside Citrus Classic
Actual Mileage: ~101
Ride Time: ~7:15
Total Time: ~9:00
Avg. Speed: ~14 mph
Altitude Climbed: ~3300 ft
Weather conditions: Overcast and mid 60's the whole day with bits of light drizzle throughout the ride.
Synopsis of Ride: This was my first century. It was billed as a relatively flat ride, but it had some monster hills. Mapmyride.com classified three of the hills as category 4 and one as a category 5. The starting point was at Riverside Plaza, then out of Riverside to Moreno Valley and around Lake Perris. From there out towards Menifee and to Lake Elsinore. From Lake Elsinore to Corona then up to Lake Matthews and back into Riverside and ending back at Riverside Plaza. The organizers changed the route two days before the ride and didn't tell anyone not to use the originally posted route slip so I ended up going the wrong way after 15 miles. I ended up in the right spot but only because I knew the area. There were a few riders that missed a turn and ended up 15 miles in the wrong direction and threw in the towel. Some of the roads were covered with nasty debris. I got two flats during the day and had to call for the SAG van. One guy had his wife follow him for the last five miles in their car because his tire wouldn't hold air longer than a half mile at a time.
