Welcome to the new ebay, where the buyers have all the power, and the sellers take all of the risk. Ebay most likely will side with the buyer. And then you will be out. Will the buyer cooperate with the handling of the USPS claim?

I factor in a certain % loss due to unreliable/untrustworthy buyers. Kind of like stores figuring in a certain percentage for shoplifters.

While I can't stand ebay as a seller, it is the best option available that gives me access to a nationwide to global market.

+1 Ebay/paypal will always side with the buyer, regardless of the language in your ad. Fortunately most buyers are not scammers, but some are.

+1 I usually just give a full refund and move on.
