I blame it on cell phone technology and the human condition of laziness...

Why be bothered to carry an extra 1 lb of necessary gear when you can leave it at home, and then have the capability to bother someone else directly to help you out when your laziness bites you in the ass?

If I was your brother, I would have charged you for time and gas to pick your ass up. A tube costs $4.50, and a tube kit about the same. I'm sure when you factor wasted time into it, your no-brainer stunt probably cost about $75.00. From the apparent anguish experienced, the lost "opportunity cost" for a nice ride was worth a bunch. But the good news is this: The education you're getting here is priceless.

Think about life 25 years ago: If you were dumb enough to go on a long ride without a tube and kit, where would you be?
