I bought an extra wheelset for my '03 Rainier to accomodate 1.5" Michelin Transworld tires. I'm glad I have the wheelset, but was not at all comfortable with the reduction in stability. I like the option of riding trails home, and while the skinnier tires were faster, I'll take the 2.0" MTB tires with the center bead any day, even though they're slower and heavier. I added bar ends with foam handgrips wrapped in marbled foam tape - saves the fatigue in the hands. Still getting used to aero bars for the 30 mile commute, and the cut-out gel seat sure helps where it counts. We're looking at 70+ all week long, which is a pleaseant change from the long Colorado winter.
