-1C/30F, dark, breezy, and light snow/sleet. The roads were wet, not icy, for the most part, except for a bridge deck that had a layer of snow on it.
On a sheltered, downhill section of a MUT, there was about 1/2" of wet snow. I usually bomb down the hill at 45+km/h, but I took it easy today (don't have the studs on yet!). I wasn't fast enough for some guy behind me, though, and he pulled out to pass me just as I was meeting another (well lit) cyclist coming from the other direction. It was pretty tense for a couple of seconds as the guy trying to pass me hit his brakes and pulled back in behind me, nearly clipping my rear wheel. He got a stern, "Good one." from the other cyclist. Boneheaded move if you ask me.
Later, near the top of the climb out of the valley, I witnessed a fender bender (rear-ending) between two cars. I stopped to give my name and phone number as a witness. It wouldn't surprise me if my presence came up on the incident reports...not to blame me necessarily, but I wonder if the driver of the rear vehicle was watching me instead of the guy ahead, who had stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Anyway, it was a pretty minor accident, no injuries, thankfully.
