I think it depends when next season your first peak is. For example, my first peak is the weekend of April 11, but racing starts 10 weeks before that, so I need to have some fitness. Because of this, and the fact that dec is going to be a screwy month for me, I took sept pretty easy, starting ramping back up in october and will start hitting the base miles pretty good in nov.
Thanks for the reply. And since I've never raced I'm really not sure what I want to peak for. I've selected a few of the more popular races in the area to try and peak at, the first one being in mid-April. Races start in mid-March and I want to start out in those. I have a plan laid out according to Friel's guidelines and would be on schedule if I began to transition and prep right now. But since I started quite late in the year I'm not sure if my 5 months of base training is really enough to start an actual plan and go into a prep/rest period if I don't have a whole lot to rest from.
