What kind of disc brakes do you have? The BB7s on my commuter need frequent work (although I think the way I have set up the cabling is responsible), but the hydraulic Elixir Rs on my 29er work flawlessly.
All in all, having used disk brakes for a year now, I really don't see any reason to avoid them, but don't see a whole lot of reason to choose them, either.
For a road bike with dual pivots, me neither. But for chrissakes, discs need to send cantis to the same place that is currently occupied by floppy discs and VHS tapes. Cantis suck donkey dong.
