Bikes: 2004 Motiv Vortex, 1997 Schwinn Le Tour, 2009 Scott Speedster S60 Flatbar, 2009 Specialized Tarmac Comp, 2010 Specialized Epic Comp

a righteous purchase?

in 1998, i bought a Motiv Vortex from Costco for 400 bux. i used it in college and now i'm mountain biking with it. it does have a full suspension sorta and that is the only bike i have for the mountain trails. most of my buddies who ride the mountains owns a specialized stumpjumper fsr and i am leaning more toward specialized because of that...however i know that at my level of riding, it really doesn't matter if it's a felt/specialized/cannondale/etc...

so one of my LBS is having a closeout sale, something they have every year from the beginning of the winter season till the end of the winter season. i can pick up a 2010 specialized epic comp for 1900 instead of 2900 brand new still in the box. i have been thinking about it for a year now whether i should buy a mountain bike since i only go to the trails when my buddies go. if i'm riding by myself i usually ride my roadies. so as often as i am willing to hit the trails would be about twice a month during warm weather in northern california.

should i buy that epic or just deal with the trail on a costco bike???
