Based on the description - I'd go wide, then brake reasonably hard, apex the turn sharply and exit comfortably onto the least muddy track. Might not work too well if there's someone on your wheel as they'll yell at you, or worse, for cutting them off.
I often scrub a lot of speed if it means that I can exit onto a less muddy section. Usually, not always, saves a bit of time and energy.
When I wrote about "riding in straight lines" on the other thread, this is the kind of thing I was talking about. I think I'd probably try to take a similar approach with this corner based on the description.
