Never ask permission to bring bike inside of any building; just do it until you are told differently by someone in authority.
Worked in Tucson and used to park my commuter inside an unused storage closet near the back door entrance.
After several years of doing that was told by a new supervisor that it was 'unsafe' and someone could trip over it (inside an unused closet?).
Parked it outside near loading dock and was told again someone could trip over it and I could only park it at the extreme end of a large parking lot or come to work by car.
Asked if he'd be responsible for theft . . . "no".
There was a shortage of parking spots for cars, so I redesigned the parking lot layout so they could gain 3 additional parking spots, that included a motorcycle/bicycle spot by the back door.
The big boss commended me and the 'supervisor' was a bit red faced.
Get a folding bike, fold it and bring it in without the wheels touching the carpet/ground as 'luggage'.
