Wildflower is great. I think it is still my favorite as well.
Considering he was asking for easy riding with the wife, I am guessing he would also prefer light traffic. If so, 1 might not be the best choice for cycling in this situation (but is definitely worth at least a drive out), but some of the local roads should be perfect.
But the traffic is a lot lighter this time of the year than during the summer. Also, there are wide shoulders in that area.
